Dear Betty,
I'm 50+ and have a problem using condoms. My dick just will not stay up. The last time I tried, I don't think I could feel anything and after a few strokes I lost it. This all goes back to having just one lover and never having to worry about catching anything. Now I've been lucky enough to have several different partners and I don't want to catch a STD or pass it on. Any suggestions? I've thought about trying masturbation with a condom. I don't really like the idea. I think most of the problem is in my mind. What do you think?
Thanks, G

Dear G:
A lot of guys have issues with condoms. So, you're not alone. We live in a world where people aren't always truthful about what diseases they have, so you are definitely acting responsibly to use condoms. That being said, you still need to find an answer to your problem of staying hard while using a condom. I can suggest a few things.
The first thing is the condom itself. Are you buying the right size? If you're a big guy, you can't squeeze into a small condom—you'll need to go for the Magnum size. And most importantly, are you putting the condom on correctly? If you are struggling with it, it could mean you are putting it on upside down. Take your time and leave some room at the top (if it doesn't have a reservoir tip) to catch your cum.
Also, they make very thin condoms. Some of the guys I have been with have even claimed it's the closest thing to not even wearing one. On our site these condoms are called sensitive, because they are. Try the Contempo Bareback or the Avanti Super Thin.
A few other tricks you can try would be having your girl go down on you first and then have her put the condom on for you—this can be quite sensual and take your mind off of things. Or, you can buy condoms with texture (those little nubby things) and turn them inside out. Then, you will get extra stimulation on your penis and be even more pleasured.
Use one or all of these ideas and I'm sure condoms will be less of an issue.
Love,
Betty |
